Against the flow
One aspect of 2005 that I'm really proud of is the fact that I've watched less than a few hours of TV, for the whole year. From time to time I would catch a few minutes here and there by chance in the homes of others.
It's amazing how much not having TV changed me. I missed out on a lot of conversations (oh well) but more importantly I feel like I've been more of an independent thinker. Without outside references like commercials and pop shows I have wondered and pondered how my life works for me, not how to fit in with some product or some picture.
I have also read more books in 2005 than any other year in my life. That makes me happy.

I'm in the same boat as you. My Tivo is full of all my shows but I don't have time to watch them anymore because of work and fitness obligations. I still kind of miss the vegging out a little bit, but hopefully that will wear off.
RC, Good for U. I've stopped watching tv years ago. I'm a voracious reader and am more stimulated by reading a book and letting my imagination conjure up characters/plots/images of what I am reading than vegging out in front of the tv. (...although, I reeeealy like Seinfeld)
Modern day so-called TV is quite honestly for shit IMHO. I never watch it, especially Reality TV shows.
They are by far the worst.
Good call RC.
This past year I have drastically slowed down on regular TV myself and have noticed the change that you're referring to. It's amazing how much more time I have on my hands too.
