Saving Money

I came a cross an article talking about ways of putting money away:

10 Easy ways to stash away thousands

They talk about how it's easy for our mind to follow gimicks. The article talks about several gimicks to make it easy to save.

I've been using a really easy gimick for a couple years now: Never give away your change. I always bring it home and throw it in my change jars. Last time I counted it I was able to collect $200 in about a year's worth of time.

A more recent move I've started is to save all the money I make from playing gigs. You wouldn't believe how fast that stash is adding up.

The trick is to not raid the stash...any time I borrow from it I have to pay it back.

If you know of any post it in the comments below.

I believe that advertising has an effect on the way we spend. Its easier to spend than to save but with the right mindset, saving becomes second nature.

I used to spend more than what i earned but now I have managed to budget and only purchase things that I really need and now want, if i want something I tend to reward myself if i fulfil a goal

As unsafe as it can be I keep a cash stash. I put all the money I get for doing sound or gigs in it and also any leftover cash I might have withdrawn when I go out and do something, be it a date or a trip somewhere.

It's also different spending virtual cash instead of physical cash. It's easy to spend a few hundred bucks on a bank card but it's a little harder to let go of it when it's cold hard cash.
