BMW & Bluetooth

I've been trying to work out the kinks with the bluetooth connection between my 325i and my Motorola 540. It pairs okay...but sometimes it doesn't connect even after I've syncronized all my contacts. I suspect my cell phone is powering off BT and I just don't know about it.

There's also another issue. BMW supports "headset" mode which is different than "handsfree" mode. I looks like the 540 only supports "handsfree". Again I can't really confirm this yet.

Anyhow, here's a great resource on the subject: http://www.mdload.com/bluetooth/

The Coffee House

Earlier this year I was burnt out with my software career. I can name a few things that contributed to the burnout but there was no doubt that I needed a change.

One of the ideas I had was to work at a coffee shop. The idea of serving people something small that put them in a happy place seem refreshing to me. No more haggling about design details...it would simply be "One soy latte for Jane".

But reality and the need to support the children and myself kept me from it. Fortunatly I got through the burnout and ended up once again in peace with software development.

At some point in my life I do wish to revisit this...another idea would involve a smooth transition to flight level 330 enroute to new york with several passengers onboard...yea...i like that idea very much =)

Mercury Blues Band

We played 2 shows back to back over the weekend...and they were our best. The band all agreed we just hit a new level of playing. I think at some point when you play enough together the dynamics change and you reach new levels. During the show I felt that at a subconscious level I knew where the band was going which gave me room to expand the bass parts. I felt room to play with both new bass runs and space. It was an awesome experience. Plus the crowds we played to really appreciated blues music!

I've updated our website...to stay in tune check out: http://www.mercurybluesband.com

Views from the air

Last week I took my son flying for the first time. His expression was unforgettable! He was so excited...to him "...everything looks like ANTS!!". Towards the end of the flight I encouraged him to hold the yoke to feel the plane. He looked at me with unsure eyes...but I eased him into it. I told him, "You're my co-pilot!" I could tell it was a great experience for him.

On the same note I took some friends flying last saturday to see if we could catch some fall colors around the Kingsburg-Reedly area. Looks like we may have missed it this year. Hopefully it's something to do for next year.
