The Bad Plus on Conan

The Bad Plus played on Conan recently*. I love their sense of harmony as well as their compositions. I've been listening to them a lot since finding out about them. Great band.

Btw, our band, Lunchbox, is opening for them at the Cellar Door here in Visalia on May 16th.

It's about capitalism, not consumerism!

To understand Mozilla's potential, it's useful to review a bit of its history. By the middle of 2005 the Mozilla Foundation was making around $4 million per month from Google...with only 10 to 12 people on the payroll. Those are revenues that any small start-up--open source or otherwise--would kill to achieve. Mozilla was largely doing it in its sleep through the Google relationship.
Forget Facebook...

Currently I'm reading the book, The Long Tail. It's a paradigm shifting look at the biggest change since the industrial revolution. With the cost of distribution dropping so quickly we're finding totally new ways to build revenue streams changing how are our economy works. It's good to be a capitalist!

Rock influenced Jazz

Amazing cover of a Radiohead tune by Brad Mehldau. Most of the jazz songs performed in the past were covers and renditions of popular music. This is clearly in line with tradition.

Visalia's Music Man

Great write up in the Fresno Bee

I've known Aaron since elementary school and recognized his artsy side as what makes him unique. This was at a small school with 15 kids per class...most all of them farm raised.

Visalia's lively music scene is mostly due to Aaron's efforts. Most musicians who play in the area look forward to coming back. Even my Fresno musician friends envy the active downtown.

As an active musician who plays most weekends downtown, I am very grateful for all of it.

Good job Aaron!
